Quebec City, Quebec 2020

Greetings, HSMA PTA!

We are excited to say that we already have students signing up for the PTA-Sponsored trip to Quebec City. As a reminder, the trip will be in March of 2020 – over Spring Break. Also, the trip is only for French students, as Quebec City is the capital city of the French-speaking province of Quebec. Attached is the itinerary for the trip. You will find all information that you could need on this itinerary, including a link to register your French student for the trip on page 3 of the itinerary. This is a wonderful city, and many Stone students have been able to experience French language and culture in its very Canadian version. Contact PTA member Dominque Esnault if you have further questions at d_esnault1@yahoo.com.

This week at our PTA meeting, we had a presentation by the Travel Committee, working to coordinate foreign trips for our MYP (6-8) students. We want the presentation to get out to a wider audience, and are making it available on the PTA website.

A note on the Harry Stone IB program

Dear Parents and Students,
The article entitled, “The Transformative Nature of an IB Education,” is the perfect answer to why Harry Stone became an IB school.Ā Additionally, it explains the “intangible” benefits of an IB education that we often have difficulty expressing.Ā  We can talk about IB Learner Profile Traits and Approaches to Learning, but to see the students successfully instigating, implementing and engaging in action is the proof of the value of our program.

I invite everyone to the Community Project Presentations the MYP3 students will give in February.Ā  You will be inspired by what these young people have accomplished for the betterment of our human community and see the perfect expression of what an IB education is all about.
