Announcements from Principal Jones

Happy summer, all!  We have just a few short weeks until an exciting new school year begins.  We hope everyone has had a relaxing and fun summer so far.

Ms. Jones has asked us to let you know navy blue bottoms have been added to the middle school uniform.  Students are to wear light blue shirts and khaki or navy blue pants, shorts, or skirts (as appropriate).   Also, STAAR results will be coming soon to a mailbox near you.  And lastly, for students who will be transitioning to the next level (Kinder to 1st and 3rd to 4th), classroom assignments will also arrive shortly.

Students and teachers (and parents) will also be happy to learn ACP exams have been reduced in number.  A total of 19 ACP exams have been eliminated for elementary students.

Looking forward to seeing bright and happy faces in the upcoming year!

Remembering the World of Anne Frank

This is a middle school production and the topic may not be appropriate for elementary aged children.
Tickets are $3.00 and concessions will be on sale before and after the play, as well as during intermission.
The support and money raised from ticket sales each year determines what shows we are able to do the following year. Please come and support us! Without the parents’ and students’ support we cannot do our large, full school shows.
Shows Under Consideration for 2016:
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
Annie (Junior)

Let’s support HSMA’s Theatre Dept!

The Concessions Committee is requesting donations to help support the Theatre department.  And Then They Came for Me will open Friday, December 4 at 7:00.  The Theatre department is partially funded through ticket and concession sales.  Please help support our students in one of their favorite activities.

National Blue Ribbon Announcement!

The US Department of Education will make the official announcement of Blue Ribbon Schools for 2015 on Tuesday morning between 9:00 and 10:00.

Harry Stone is being recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School with only 26 schools in Texas having been nominated  (all of them may not have met the requirements to actually become Blue Ribbon Schools). The selection criteria was based on assessment data for the past six years (2009-2015).

Our application will appear on the National Blue Ribbon website and if you would like to see some past Blue Ribbon Schools, their applications, and stories you can access them on the following link: http://nationalblueribbonschools.ed.gov/

Way to go Harry Stone!!
